The investigations performed reveal that relation between hardness characteristics of a projectiletarget pair, as well as a projectile kinetic characteristic, is the main criterion of piercing capability of various types of steel cores in case of shooting at multi-layer glass-polymeric composite targets. It is shown that an active resistance of a glass target of a higher hardness leads to sharp deceleration of a mild steel core of less hardness and to the core's crushing.
