THE INFLUENCE OF THE SPREAD OF THE INITIAL GRENADE SPEED ON THE PROBABILITY OF HITTING THE TARGET

Vladimir Viacheslavovich Keywords: | Abstract:The model for external ballistics calculation in a full three-dimensional formulation in the material point dynamics approximation with allowance for side wind is described. Errors, determining the probability of hitting the target, are considered. Mathematical simulation of the grenade impact at a target is carried out by statistical tests with external conditions of firing variation. Estimations of tank frontal projection hit probability for different firing modes of grenade launcher are presented. The fundamental possibility of realization of wind drift compensation for unguided munitions with auto-regulated engine is shown. Significant increase of the grenade hit probability when using a jet engine with the thrust characteristics auto-regulation system in conditions of aiming accuracy and weapon orientation increasing is theoretically proved. Igor Vladimirovich Keywords: | Abstract:A generalized motion’s mathematical model of an asymmetric uncontrolled rotating body (bullet) in air in three-dimensional space with resistance forces given in the form of approximating functions is developed. A mathematical scheme for the bullet’s motion on a trajectory is described and an aerodynamic design model for determining the forces acting on the body from the software product ANSYS CFX is compiled. Verification of the theoretical drag force, obtained from the ANSYS CFX with the firing tables was carried out, determined deviations from practical values. The external ballistics for the 7H6 bullet was calculated in accordance with the developed mathematical model under certain initial conditions for the bullet’s location in the barrel and the relative errors of the main trajectory parameters were analyzed. Using Microsoft Excel and Matlab/ Octave software products an algorithm and program code for calculating a hit probability are developed. A feature of the hit-probability calculating is that the target is divided into a set of rectangles. The initial data for the program are: coordinates of the rectangle, parameters of the dispersion ellipse and coordinates of the point of impact (POI). The example of the hit-probability estimation for targets № 5, № 6 is given. It presents the transformation of the probability of hit when the coordinates of the POI change.
