Gas dynamics equations are solved in axisymmetric framework by a high-order numerical scheme. Pressure fields in the shock wave propagating from a point and finite-size energy source are obtained, their interaction with plane and zig-zag profile surfaces is studied, time dependencies for the maximum pressure and force exerted on the surface are calculated. Emphasis is placed on one of the most frequently mentioned reason, strength reduction, which is defined by the term heat resistance of the structure. Classification of possible designs enabled the reduction of the known cases of the use of glass in aviation to four types and to establish the minimum requirements for strength, to be satisfied by the products of each of those type. Based on the calculations performed, it is found that in the vast majority of cases, kamikaze airplanes with suspended aerial bombs were able to penetrate the deck and side shell plating of ships, which increased their damage effect significantly.
